Tzaritza

Got to see this animated short film in the East Building Auditorium of the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art (http://www.nga.gov) at a Children's Film Program, named 'North of the Border', organized by the National Film Board of Canada (http://www.nfb.ca).

Tzaritza

Once upon a time there lived in Canada a small girl, named Lili, with her father and her pet dog. One day, it was decided that all of them would visit Lili's grandmother, who lived all by herself on the shores of the Black Sea. So, they traveled all the way from Montreal to the Black Sea in an airplane across the Atlantic Ocean. Lili instantly took a liking to the new place, and loved every moment with her grandma.
One morning, Lili accidentally found on the seashore a 'tzaritza' – a magic shell. She had been told in her childhood that, when you get a tzaritza, you can make a wish, which may be fulfilled. So, she made a wish that they all could stay there forever happily. But, the very next day, time came for them to get back home to Canada. Thus, they had to leave grandma and return home.
Once at home, Lili wished with all her heart that the Black Sea might come there and her father find his very own tzaritza. And, hey presto! The Black Sea came flowing in, and in its water, her father found his tzaritza. She coaxed him to make a wish of his heart's deepest desire.
The next day, Lili's grandmother came over to Canada and started living with them happily ever after! :-)
